18 Apr Letter To Head Start Families
Dear Head Start Families,
Since 1966, we have, in good faith and cheer, served you and generations of our brothers and sisters in Missouri. We have cared for and witnessed your children grow—bright and wonderful. We have tirelessly upheld the mission of Head Start for you, your children, and our community.
We are honored to serve. However, today our mission is under threat.
According to USA Today, the National Head Start Association, and the National Community Action Foundation, President Trump’s proposed federal budget calls for the complete elimination of Head Start funding—not a reduction, not a restructuring, but total elimination.
This proposal would dismantle six decades of our combined efforts to provide a proven positive impact for our community. Even if funding were restored in the future, rebuilding would take years—and the losses to our children, families, and community would be bleak.
We cannot let this happen.
Please, make your voices heard. Visit the National Head Start Association’s open letter to the President and Congress and add your name. Tell them that Head Start matters—to your family, to our community, and to the future of Missouri.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for being part of our Head Start family. Thank you for the faith and trust you place in us every day.
With hope,
Hayley Chapman, parent
OACAC Head Start Policy Council Chair
