On January 8,1964, President Lyndon Johnson delivered a critically important speech which outlined his vision for the presidency and was the beginning of the Community Action Program. Today, Community Action Agencies across the nation continue to offer programs and emboldened strategies which help people move from poverty to empowered self-sufficiency.
