Our Service

ARE YOU 55 YEARS OR OLDER?

Would you like to share your talents, love, and encouragement with a child? The Foster Grandparent Program, federally funded by AmeriCorps Seniors, is a volunteer initiative where adults 55+ provide one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, and support to children with exceptional needs. OACAC Foster Grandparents serve at volunteer stations in a 14-county area of Southwest Missouri.

Who Are Foster Grandparents?

As a Foster Grandparent program volunteer, you get to do many wonderful things any  grandparent would do with their own grandchildren:

  • Playing, loving, laughing, and listening
  • Assist teachers with tutoring, therapy, developing motor skills, and other classroom activities
  • Serve as a role model for children or teens who do not have the opportunity to share time with their own grandparents
