07 Aug City of Branson Donates Insulation to OACAC Weatherization

“The Branson Board of Aldermen recently voted to donate 6,144 square feet of insulation made from locally recycled glass to the Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC), a non-profit agency that helps combat poverty across the Ozarks.
Being sustainable has its rewards. The City of Branson won a truckload (13,000 sq feet) of insulation in 2016 when it was named “Glass Recycling Program of the Year” by Ripple Glass of Kansas City, in a five-state competition. Since then, the City has been able to use that insulation in ten city buildings, including the new Emergency Operations Center, saving the City and taxpayers thousands of dollars.
The City wasn’t able to use all the insulation and wanted to share the gift with our community. OACAC provides a free weatherization program to qualified homeowners and renters. It will distribute the donated insulation to people who apply to the program. OACAC’s weatherization program includes providing and installing the insulation at no cost to the homeowners.
