Happy Retirement to Debbie Young

Talking with Debbie Young, it’s easy to hear the joy for the Foster Grandparent Program in her voice as she recalls memories of grandparent volunteers through the years. She laughs recalling stories about a grandpa who kept her on her toes and shares how the grandparents have been like family through the years.

Debbie started her career with OACAC in 1987, working for Head Start. From there she served as the Assistant Foster Grandparent Program Director, worked for the Neighborhood Centers, and then, in 2003, took her position from which she is retiring as Foster Grandparent Director.

When asked what she will take with her, Debbie replied, “lasting friendships” and shared she has felt privileged to work with a great OACAC program serving two generations.

We appreciate the heart Debbie has added to the Foster Grandparent Program and wish her a very happy new adventure traveling and spending more time with family in her retirement.
