Housing Assistance Program Revised Income Limits for Initial Eligibility

On April 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development issued Revised Income Limits for use in HUD assisted housing programs. These income limits are also used to determine family income eligibility for the state assisted housing programs. There are modest increases this year in all counties in all household size categories.

The attached chart of Income Limits (50% Median Family Income) was adopted by the OACAC Housing Assistance Program for use in the HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.  The HUD income limits are set at 30%, 50% and 80% of area Median Family Income (MFI) by county according to family size. The amounts listed in the attached table represent GROSS ANNUAL INCOME before deductions at 50% MFI. The maximum income for HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program eligibility is 50% Median Family Income (MFI).  However, 75% of all new admissions to the HUD Section 8 HCV program must fall at or below 30% MFI.  All applications will be reviewed for income eligibility at the HAP office in Springfield. All persons are welcome to apply.

Details can be found listed under Eligibility on the Housing Assistance page.
