Introducing ShowMe Healthy Relationships

We are excited to launch a new program in our 10 county service area that focuses on individuals strengthening relationships within their own lives.

ShowMe Healthy Relationships (SMHR) is a 5-year project funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. It is a partnership between the University of Missouri Extension, University of Missouri Department of Human Development and Family Science, and three Community Family Agencies, (including OACAC), who have come together to help single individuals have happy and healthy relationships.

We actively recruit members of the general public into our project, with an emphasis on reaching low-resource families and individuals in 23 counties across Missouri. Utilizing the Within My Reach curriculum, which includes core strategies from PREP (Prevention and Relationship Education Program) that are designed to help individuals achieve their goals in relationships to develop useful skills in relationships that may benefit them more generally on with their family, co-parents they are no longer involved with romantically, their children, at the workplace and within their community.

Participants in the 8-week program will learn qualities that make a good partner, how to communicate and maintain a partnership, and how topics like parenting, finances and personal well-being are related to healthy relationship choices.

Classes will be offered beginning in April 2021 where participants meet in person or online for 2 hours per week. Interested individuals can get involved with ShowMe Healthy Relationships by contacting [email protected] or by calling 417-873-3378.
