3rd Annual LUNAFEST

June 23:  Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) is pleased to present the 3rd Annual LUNAFEST festival in Springfield on Sunday, June 23 at the Springfield Art Museum. Join us for a lovely afternoon of food, films, friends, and discussion, benefiting OACAC programs and projects along with Chicken & Egg Pictures. Since 2000, LUNAFEST has showcased the work of talented women directors from all over the world. See the 2019 line-up of eight short films here.

OACAC is one of 19 Community Action Agencies (CAA’s) in the state and no matter where you travel across Missouri, there is a CAA working to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty for children, families, seniors, students, and in communities. Additionally, OACAC is one of more than 1,000 CAA’s across the country. OACAC programs serving Southwest Missouri include Family Planning, Foster Grandparent Program, Head Start/Early Head Start, Housing Assistance, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Neighborhood Centers, and Weatherization. Additionally, a variety of projects and initiatives work directly with kids, young adults, and families.

Chicken & Egg Pictures celebrates women storytellers. The nonprofit organization provides mentorship and critical financial support to female nonfiction filmmakers. Not only have the films gained recognition, but have made an impact on social and economic issues.

Tickets may be purchased online or at the door. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The 2019 season features eight short films for a total running time of 85 minutes. NOTE: Films featured in LUNAFEST are not rated but we suggest age 13+ for this season’s lineup.
