24 Aug Happy Retirement To Judy Hargis
Judy Hargis, Dallas County Neighborhood Center Supervisor, began her career with OACAC in October 1978. She started as a Housing Counselor in Dade County and a few years later, moved to Dallas County where she has dedicated her time to building up the community and strengthening the lives of people of all ages.
Judy shared one of the highlights of her career was starting the New To You thrift store in Buffalo. This store has provided a place for the community to support the mission of OACAC through donations and purchases of items. Proceeds have been used to purchase back to school shoes for hundreds of Dallas County students, and it has been a place of job training, employment, and volunteerism for many through the years. When the store opened in 1984, Judy recalls everything was a dime. While prices have gone up somewhat, it is still a great place to find a bargain.
Please join us in congratulating Judy on 43 years with OACAC. On Thursday, Aug. 26, she begins a new adventure in retirement where she plans to take day adventures with her sister, spend time with family, and wake up without an alarm!
