Board Opportunities

Are you committed to improving the lives of others and strengthening the community in which you live? As a Community Action Agency, our mission is to create lasting solutions to poverty for families and communities within Southwest Missouri. If this aligns with your interests, we would like to talk with you. We currently have board openings in Christian, Taney and Webster counties.

Our Christian County Advisory Board (CAB) has an opening for a Consumer Advocate representative. CAB meetings are held six times per year on the second Thursday of the month from 2-3pm. To learn more, call our Christian County Neighborhood Center at (417) 581-7631 or email Darla Boice, Supervisor, at [email protected].

Our Taney County Advisory Board has two Private Interest representative openings. CAB meetings are held ten times per year on the third Thursday of the month from 9-10am. To learn more, call our Taney County Neighborhood Center at (417) 239-1882 or email Matt Pinkley, Supervisor, at [email protected].

In addition to meeting on a county level, board members will also serve on our area board which includes members from all 10-counties in our service area. Area board meetings are held eight times per year on the fourth Tuesday of each month. They are currently held on Zoom beginning at 6pm, usually lasting less than two hours.

Besides attending meetings, board members help with advocacy, outreach, fundraising, and the sustainability of our programs and projects. OACAC has a tripartite board made up of 1/3 Consumer Advocates, 1/3 Public Officials, and 1/3 Private Interest representatives.
