Celebrating 50 Years With Carl Rosenkranz

Today our Executive Director, Carl Rosenkranz, celebrates 50 years with OACAC. He started on a Monday in 1971 and it is fitting his anniversary falls on a Monday. Many things have changed through the years; however, Carl’s steadfast determination to strengthening the lives of others, offering opportunities, building communities, and extending a hand up has not wavered.

The day was filled with a visit from our friend OJ the cat, silly trivia, a hallway parade, and a gathering of friends, colleagues, and community partners via Zoom.

Mayor Ken McClure proclaimed today September 13, 2021 as Carl Rosenkranz Day and presented him with this honor. Carl also received a plaque with an inscription from longtime friend and Community Action pioneer, Charles Braithwait, which reads, “Community Action leaders should possess, “Leadership, integrity, compassion, selfless dedication to our ideals, compassion to the poor, and determination to do the right thing with the tools given to us.”

We appreciate all who made today a special day. Thank you to Carl’s wife Barbara and his family who have supported his life’s work and encouraged his successes. Thank you to those who have worked with and alongside Carl throughout these years. And thank you to Carl, a man who has a big heart for the world in which we live.
